Visitors from all demographics can also find a range of things to do at the Port of Sale. The Port of Sale has undergone a huge redevelopment phase over recent years, and has become a precinct for arts and culture, food and beverages, as well as boutique accommodation options and retail stores. Originally the port was utilised by steamers and small cruises, and continues to offer heritage cruises for tourists. The multi-million-dollar development includes a number of new facilities for both locals and visitors to enjoy, including a boardwalk, picnic areas and facilities, fishing areas, and improved water access for those who have brought or hired their own boat.

Approximately 180 kilometres from the state’s capital, the area is particularly popular with domestic visitors travelling from Melbourne or touring the state on a driving holiday.

Domestic or international visitors choosing to fly into the state can land at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport where a number of car rental options are available. Tourists could also travel to the area from Melbourne by rail via Traralgon.

There are a number of accommodation options available in Sale, including motels and lodges, boutique and branded hotels, serviced apartments, and a holiday park with cabins, camping facilities and motor home access. Being a popular area for families, Sale has several self-contained accommodation options with multiple beds.
