However you travel there, the journey to Kuranda is an exotic adventure through World Heritage rainforest.
Whether it’s winding through the spectacular Barron Gorge on the world-famous Kuranda Scenic Railway, driving up the mountain range from Cairns, or floating along on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, the experience is epic.
The picturesque mountain retreat of Kuranda is just 25km northwest of Cairns in Far North Queensland, and it is surrounded by the world’s oldest living tropical rainforest.
It is one of the most scenic holiday destinations in Queensland and the Kuranda Rainforest Accommodation Park is a prized asset in the holiday industry.
Cairns-based Alex Stagg from McDonald Hospitality Brokers is marketing the freehold going concern for $3,300,000 and says with its serene, relaxing environment on more than 3.6 hectares it is an extremely popular destination for holidaymakers and permanent residents.
“It’s got a great income situation at the moment with the mix of guests and multiple income streams,” Mr Stagg said, “and the opportunity is there to increase the amount of sites. It has a really lovely ‘off the grid’ feel.
“There’s a newly opened cafe and ice cream shop that’s doing good business and there is a waiting list of people wanting to become permanent residents. I see a lot of growth for the park. It's just got a really warm feeling when you come into it.”
Mr Stagg said that ‘Peace’, ‘Serenity’ and ‘Tranquillity’ were just three of the words to describe the Kuranda Rainforest Accommodation Park, and its stunning rainforest backdrop.
The park has been successfully run under management for the last 10 years and there are large, expansive grounds with nature walk signposts all around.
There are 58 powered sites, 24 un-powered sites, 22 sites for permanent residents, four poolside units, five cabins and a two-bedroom residence.
Mr Stagg said the park would suit anyone who wanted to make good profits while surrounded by tranquillity and the splendour of North Queensland’s finest scenery.
The famous Kuranda Markets are just one of the many attractions that draw visitors to the charming town.
Birdworld Kuranda is home to more than 350 birds, including a southern cassowary, one of the world’s largest birds. Right next door is the Kuranda Koala Gardens, one of the few places where visitors can actually cuddle a koala.
Kuranda Riverboat cruises offer visitors spectacular journeys to the superb Barron Falls.
The town of about 3000 people has many restaurants and cafes, and outdoor dining is one of the joys to be experienced in the cool mountain climate. Kuranda is positioned on the eastern edge of the Atherton Tableland about 350 metres above sea level.
