Mungo National Park in south-western New South Wales is one of the most spectacular locations in Australia, more than 100,000 hectares that are steeped in ancient history.
It includes 17 dry lakes and is the site where the remains of Mungo Man and Mungo Lady, the oldest human remains discovered in Australia, were uncovered beneath a series of stunning dunes known as the “Walls of China”.
The national park is about 140km north-east of Mildura.
Michael Philpott from Tourism Brokers described the Mungo Lodge at Arumpo, NSW, as “a world class tourism facility and an iconic place for the Mungo region”.
The lodge is a unique investment that combines breathtaking landscapes, a thriving business, and the charm of outback Australia.
Mungo Lodge offers all sorts of luxury accommodation from deluxe king and twin cabins to glamping tents, and bunkhouses.
The Mungo Bar & Bistro offers full dining, with great hearty country meals along with bar facilities.
Mr Philpott is offering the freehold sale of the renowned property for $1,850,000.
It’s net profit last year was $248,612.
“That’s an exceptional profit for the region,” he said.
“The owners have decided to discount the asking price heavily to meet the market. They are Sydney-based and the property is run remotely with local staff.
“It’s a real opportunity for someone to come in and grab the lodge and take it to the next level. It’s already an ultra-modern property, very new, in really good condition and themed with the national park and all its associated tours.
“This is a chance to own a piece of Australia's natural wonder. Mungo Lodge is not just an investment; it's an opportunity to be a steward of one of the country's most precious landscapes and make a mark on the thriving world of eco-tourism.”
Beyond accommodation, Mungo Lodge offers guided tours, stargazing experiences, and cultural programs, ensuring a diverse revenue stream. The potential for expansion and development is vast.
Mr Philpott said while the lodge was a “comfortable drive” from big regional centres such as Mildura, it was a destination, not a stop-over place. Visitors came for extended periods to immerse themselves in a unique part of the world, adding to the lodge’s bottom line.
“As tourism is growing, eco and wildlife tourism is the big driver,” he said, “and new owners at Mungo Lodge can really capitalize on the increasing demand for sustainable and immersive travel experiences. It has a proven history of occupancy rates, providing a reliable and consistent income for potential investors, but with its unique location and eco-friendly focus, there's also significant untapped potential for growth and expansion.
“Arumpo is a magnet for tourists seeking an authentic Australian experience. With its rich Indigenous history, captivating wildlife, and proximity to the world-renowned Mungo National Park, the area attracts tourists and photographers year-round.
“The eco-friendly design, solar energy utilization, and responsible tourism practices appeal to the growing market of environmentally conscious travellers.
Mr Philpott said the vibrant Arumpo community was known for its warmth and hospitality and that Mungo Lodge contributed to local employment and engaged with Indigenous communities to create a positive impact.
