Beautiful beaches, magnificent scenery, succulent local seafood and superb premium wines – little wonder that the town of Robe is one of southern Australia's most popular holiday destinations.
Situated 330 kilometres south of Adelaide, Robe is a fishing port located on the Limestone Coast of South Australia, with an enticing mix of historical buildings, pounding ocean, busy fishing boats and wild untamed coastline.
Robe lies on the southern shore of Guichen Bay, just off the Princes Highway and has a permanent population of about 1500.
During the Australian gold rushes in the 1850s, the Victorian government introduced a landing tax of £10 per person arriving by ship in their colony to deter the massive number of Chinese labourers coming every day, working for large Chinese gold mining businesses.

The £10 fee was more than the cost of the voyage from China and to bypass the Victorian landing tax, more than 16,000 Chinese people landed at Robe, South Australia instead, immediately walking or even jogging overland for more than 300 kilometres to the Victorian goldfields of Ballarat and Bendigo.
These days visitors to Robe no longer have to do a runner.
Many of them stay at the welcoming Harbour View Motel.
This Freehold Going Concern is on the market for $2,750,000 through CRE Brokers.
The Harbour View Motel offers an unparalleled location with stunning views of Robe Marina and Guichen Bay.

This well-maintained property spans 1615 square meters and includes 15 comfortable rooms, recently upgraded parking, and a small manager's residence.
There is also the potential for expansion, and the motel presents a prime opportunity for new owners to either continue operations under management or take a hands-on approach to further enhance profitability.
Brenton Opperman from CRE said it would only take a little work to transform a commercial kitchen on the upper level of the property into two more bedrooms.

“The land around the property has also been subdivided and there is another 450 square metres that could be sold to create more accommodation,” Mr Opperman said.
“The motel has beautiful views and Robe is a spectacular area. It’s a very popular holiday spot with many attractions including some wonderful wine areas nearby.
“There are beautiful beaches and Robe becomes a really popular thriving tourist town with peak season between November and April.”
Robe is also just 90 minutes from another tourist drawcard Mount Gambier.

Holiday makers in Robe can soak up the sun on long sandy white beaches before kicking back in cosmopolitan cafes, chic galleries and boutique shops.
The emerging Robe wine region grows grapes good enough for some of Australia’s best wineries. Its local wines include everything from rich, elegant reds to vibrant whites – perfect with the region’s famous crayfish, though there is a veritable smorgasbord of local seafood on offer in this fishing village.
Robe’s Long Beach is 14km of sandy-white bliss and the Cape Dombey Obelisk has been a local attraction for almost 170 years.
It was built in 1855 to help ships navigate the entrance into Guichen Bay and to store rocket-fired lifesaving equipment for stricken ships.
