Located on Queensland’s beautiful Sunshine Coast, Golden Beach is one of the coast’s quieter towns, offering its locals and visitors with a range of stunning beaches, cafés and leafy parks that the whole family can enjoy.
The beach itself is a calm and protected alternative to neighbouring Sunshine Coast surf beaches such as Caloundra. With the shoreline fronting onto the Pumicestone Passage, the waves are small, making it the perfect place for visitors to swim, fish or hire a kayak or canoe.
Visitors to Golden Beach enjoy joining the locals in an outdoor lifestyle that makes the most of year-round moderate to warm temperatures and can picnic in local public parks, hire bikes and enjoy cycling along the coastline, or walk to the local cafés and restaurants.
Boat ramps make it easy for locals and visitors to launch their boats into the calm water, and boat hire can also be arranged from local rental companies.
Domestic visitors can travel to the area via the nearby Sunshine Coast Airport, which also offers seasonal flights from New Zealand. International visitors can currently access the Sunshine Coast via the Gold Coast International Airport and drive to the region, but with so much international interest in the Sunshine Coast, the Federal Government has approved a $181 million concessional loan for a new runway and terminal at Sunshine Coast Airport, allowing a $347 million international airport to be built over the next four years.
Golden Beach is home to 38 accommodation providers and food services, catering to those looking for both budget and luxury accommodation. Visitors can choose from hotels, resorts and serviced apartments, as well as hostels and holiday parks. A total of 8.4 percent of Golden Beach’s 11,500 residents are employed by the industry, which welcomes thousands of visitors each year.
The Sunshine Coast experiences approximately 6,607,800 annual domestic visitor nights and 1,256,667 international visitor nights each year, with many visitors travelling to smaller areas such as Golden Beach for an overnight stay or to swim, boat or fish in its protected waters for a day trip.
