The Lookout Noosa: a world away

The Lookout Noosa: a world away

Harmoniously set in the exclusive, tropical paradise of Noosa, high on the hill and surrounded by majestic trees, beautiful birds and enchanting wildlife, is The Lookout Resort.

Overlooking world-famous Hastings Street and Noosa Beach, this resort provides modern and spacious one, two and three-bedroom apartments. Luxurious, quiet and tranquil, the property sits in a unique location just five-minutes to well-known delights scattered down Hastings Street. The heavenly beach is a short walk in one direction and Noosa Junction occupies another, with all its shops, restaurants, tourist necessities and even a cinema.

There are four new resort managers, who took over the management rights in early June. The team consists of Kim and Michelle Thompson, with their daughter Jordana Thompson and her partner Matthew Randle.

Jordana has 10 years’ experience in the five-star hotel and super yacht industry and also achieved a diploma of hospitality management from Queenstown Resort College. In turn, Matt has 12 years’ experience in five-star hotels and the super yacht industry and also spent some time as the duty manager at Westin Hotel, Auckland.

“For four years, Matt and I worked together in the super yacht industry for royalty and other dignitaries. The last yacht we worked on was in the Seychelles, for the Qatari Royal Family. The yachts were mainly based in the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean,” revealed Jordana.

They have only been managing the resort for a few months but they have already managed to update all their marketing and online brochures, and this has coincided with rising occupancy rates.

Jordana told us: “Our resort is ideally located in the heart of Noosa, removed from the hustle-and-bustle of busy Hastings Street but still offering stunning views. You might say it’s a world away from the everyday stress and strain of life.

“We aim to provide everything that our guests need for an indulgent and relaxing holiday, complete with all the creature comforts that modern travellers have come to expect from world-class Sunshine Coast accommodations.

“We have many returning customers who continue to choose our resort as their preferred accommodation option due to the very personal service that we provide. As new managers, we want to continue to offer our guests clean, comfortable, tasteful and relaxing accommodation with friendly and efficient service.”

All four managers at The Lookout Resort pride themselves on offering only the finest service. The location and quality of the resort, along with the promise of a relaxed Noosa lifestyle attracted the managers to this property and we are told that the purchase of the management rights went smoothly thanks to sound professional advice.

Kim and Michelle explained: “One of the reasons the property attracted us was how active and supportive the owners and body corporate committee were. We were fortunate to have the support of a very professional sales agent as well, Sasha Javenski, who simplified what could have been a difficult process.”

As Kiwis, Kim and Michelle were successful Auckland business owners for 21 years, running a textile import company that was a major importer/supplier in the New Zealand and Pacific Islands textile industry. The time had come for change though, and with friends already in the Sunshine Coast resort industry, their interest in management rights had piqued.

Kim acknowledged: “We are very happy to enter this exciting challenge with Jordana and Matt, who are young, fresh, dynamic and already have extensive hospitality experience. They have made the transition into this industry that little bit easier.”

According to Jordana, the most exciting aspect of their time at The Lookout Resort has been “getting to know people from all walks of life”. They have been working very hard to ensure that the resort is “run to a high standard” and are continually spurred on by the very positive guest feedback that they have been receiving.

This enthusiastic management team are looking to improve on what is already a successful business and their aim is to “take The Lookout Resort to the next level” by continually reviewing marketing strategies to ensure a bright future.
