Kerry has over 30-years’ experience in the hospitality industry, from working in three-star properties through to a five-star casino hotel. His wealth of knowledge and expertise ensures that every guest experiences the highest quality of service expected
When describing the hotel’s best features, he said: “I would say that our location is the number one attraction, followed closely by the high standard of facilities and service, along with the relaxing atmosphere that sees many a guest return time after time.
“In addition, we recently completed a $3.5 million refurbishment of public areas, accommodation and the setting up of The Marquee, which has been very popular with weddings and events.”
An interesting fact, according to Kerry, is that when the property first opened in 2005, the “then premier of Queensland, the honourable Peter Beatie, stayed in-house in the superior spa suite which is now known as the Premier’s Suite”.
With such extensive industry experience we wondered what Kerry’s most recent learning curve was and he told us: “To ‘Queenslandise’ my way of operating, while bringing in new systems that I have worked with over the many years. But, always listen to your guests and when the opportunity arises, try to exceed their expectations”. This advice is gold - wherever you are located!
Kerry insisted: “There is a great working atmosphere here at the Clarion Hotel Mackay Marina, our guests notice this and it makes their stay just that little bit more enjoyable. Our staff enjoy coming to work and are encouraged to make every guest’s experience great.”
He also described what in his opinion the team does best: “In one word – service! When you provide the highest quality of service to each guest, they not only enjoy their stay but there is a higher chance of them returning. It also increases word-of-mouth advertising that in our experience has been shown to be the best form of advertising.
“On the whole, our resort provides what is expected by our guests and that is value for money spent. Our success can only be measured by our guest’s experiences during their stay.”
