Life’s a beach at Urunga
Gundamain Caravan Park

Beautiful beaches and tranquil waterways make Urunga a sought-after seaside destination on the southern Coffs Coast.

Bottlenose dolphins frolic where the Bellinger and Kalang rivers meet and the surfing, fishing and boating in the stunning location are first class.

Urunga is served by two waterway boardwalks, including the Urunga Boardwalk, a 1km trail in Bellinger Heads State Park that is wheelchair accessible. The boardwalk follows the Kalang River to the confluence with the Bellinger River.

Visitors then pass the shimmering Urunga Lagoon and follow the estuary mouth to the edge of the Pacific Ocean.

Urunga is a 30-minute drive south of Coffs Harbour on the way to Nambucca Heads, and has become an increasingly popular retirement spot for those people leaving the city for affordable housing.

The Gundamain Caravan Park has a prime waterfront position on the Kalang River with expansive views. It has 27 permanent sites complemented by a community hall and boat ramp, as well as 23 relocatable homes, two relocatable caravans with annex and two vacant sites.]

James Carrick, from HTL Property, is marketing the property which is positioned on a substantial 3.24 hectare site that is primarily undeveloped and which has significant potential via an additional accommodation offering subject to council approval.

“Already there is secure passive income from permanent residents with scope to increase revenue,” Mr Carrick said.

“It’s a great location and Urunga is a very sought after destination, especially by retirees looking for an affordable housing solution.

“The park has repositioned itself aiming for the over-55s market and there is a lot of scope to expand the business further.”

Mr Carrick said the Gundamain Caravan Park had been under long-term professional management by a renowned local real estate agency.

It is on a convenient midway position between Brisbane and Sydney.

He said the site included a substantial 2.81 hectares of prime greenfield land, best suited for residential development which was especially desirable given the heightened regional housing demand off the back of the COVID inspired migration

The Gundamain Caravan Park and the nearby development land are for sale, either in-one-line or individually via an exclusive expression of interest campaign.

Retirees are not the only ones flocking to Urunga.

In whale-watching season between May and November, humpback and other whales visit on their annual migration, often putting on stunning shows as they leap from the water.

Urunga is also a wonderful fishing destination.

Tailor, whiting and bream can all be caught from the beach, and the rocks at Hungry Head, and a little further south at Wenonah Head, are well known for rock fishing.

A second, shorter boardwalk crosses the Urunga Wetlands which teems with birdlife.

The town is also a great place to begin a journey on the Waterfall Way, a gorgeous drive to Bellingen and the World Heritage-listed Dorrigo National Park.
