Breathtaking. The Tutukaka Coast in New Zealand’s Northland region was rated as one of the top coastal destinations on the planet by National Geographic Traveller.

Northland is the northernmost of New Zealand's 16 local government regions and is often called the Winterless North because of its mild climate throughout the year, that draws a constant stream of visitors.

The sheltered harbour at the town of Tutukaka is the gateway to the Poor Knights Marine Reserve and the white-sand beaches of the Tutukaka Coast. Diving and fishing charters leave regularly from the town's modern marina to visit an area where 125 species of marine life abound.

Diving at the islands makes for an extraordinary experience, but above the water the flora and fauna are also breathtakingly diverse. The steep cliffs soaring hundreds of metres above the waterline show off the Poor Knights dramatic volcanic origins from 10 million years ago.

Right on the edge of this stunning landscape is the Pacific Rendezvous Resort at 73 Motel Road, Tutukaka, a collection of 30 luxury apartments overlooking the ocean, two private beaches and a lovely three-bedroom residence.

Chris Wong, the Tourism Property Broker from Coffeys, is marketing the management rights for the property at $NZ1.2m and says: “This is New Zealand’s most spectacular beach-situated motel located on a 25-acre headland at the entrance to Tutukaka Harbour.”

He said 30 fully self-contained one, two or three bedroom apartments were all “strategically positioned to offer stunning water views”. The spacious units are tastefully outfitted, and equipped with heating and air-conditioning for year-round comfort.

They are configured to meet the needs of discerning travellers be they individuals, couples, families or small groups of travellers out to explore the magic of the Tutukaka Coast.

The resort offers guests the use of two private beaches, a tennis court, swimming pool, spa pools and games room, laundry and drying facilities, gas BBQ areas with unrivalled panoramic views, parking for boats and trailers, a convenience shop for basic items and a common area easily convertible to cater for small functions and conferences.

There are marquee sites with ocean views for weddings and special events for up to 150 guests and which provide added revenue streams for the managers.

Fishing and diving can be enjoyed directly off the property while serious anglers are just five minutes away from Tutukaka Harbour and Marina, the closest marina to the Poor Knights Islands, and the abundant fishing grounds off the coast.

The harbour and marina are also home to dive shops, Schnappa Rock restaurant, pizzeria, a small goods store/petrol station, Oceans Hotel and a slipway for fishing boats.

Mr Wong said the manager’s residence was “generous” comprising three bedrooms and one bathroom, adjoining the office/reception area and shop.

The home offers a private north-facing yard and east-facing ocean view deck.

In the busy summer months, Tutukaka's population swells from around 600 permanent residents to over 2,400.

Tutukaka is just a 20-minute drive from Whangārei, the regional capital of the Northland Region and a city of 60,000 people. It is the home to the famous Whangarei Falls. Overlooking the city, volcanic Mount Parihaka features a war memorial and the remains of Maori villages.
