Situated in one of the most idyllic parts of the Whitsundays, is a thriving beach-side business surrounded by an abundance of friendly wildlife.

 

The Hydeaway Bay Caravan Park is in a peaceful bush setting about a 40-minute drive along a sealed road from Airlie Beach.

 

The no-through road takes travellers through lush cattle country and some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Australia.

The area is one of the hidden gems in tropical Queensland, situated in a tiny coastal hamlet on a long, white, sandy beach.

 

Wallabies, kangaroos and potoroos wander through the caravan park and lorikeets and other majestic bird life can be experienced up close.

 

The Hydeaway Bay Caravan Park is opposite a popular recreation facility that has an undercover bowling green and tennis courts, and it is just 500m from the beach.

 

The park has enormous untapped potential but already features 48 powered sites, 15 unpowered camping sites, an amenities and laundry block, a large BBQ area, an office, shop and recreation room, a three-bedroom residence, as well as a workshop and storage sheds.

It has solid advance bookings through to August 2021.

 

While there have been modern, well maintained improvements, there is still the opportunity to add cabins and recreation facilities and to expand the site.

 

The asking price is $1,895,000 and marketing agent Ryan Doughty, from Queensland Tourism and Hospitality Brokers, said the park combined and idyllic lifestyle with a thriving tourist business.

 

“It is a beautiful coastal position and the park itself is strictly a tourist park so there are no permanents,” Mr Doughty said.

 

“It's straight across the road from a recreational centre which has tennis courts and a new undercover bowling green which was only completed in November but is extremely popular with grey nomads."

 

“There is a lot of repeat clientele and it offers a bit more of a relaxed feel than Airlie Beach which is the major centre of the area for the Whitsundays.”

 

Hideaway Bay was originally settled with summer shacks for local farmers, but there are now a few hundred houses scattered along the beach and the nearby hills. The beach has five public access points and visitors can comb for shells on a low tide, swim the fringing coral reef or try their luck fishing from the beach or in a “tinnie”.

 

The nearest boat hire and ramp is just down the road at Dingo Beach.

 

With endless horizons and picturesque water views dotted with islands, Hydeaway Bay and Dingo Beach are perfect for long lazy days spent beachcombing or exploring the calm bays in a kayak or stand-up-paddle board.

 

A well-known fishing destination, Dingo Beach boasts a tidal boat ramp and extensive parklands and barbeque facilities.

 

Locals actually say the best thing to catch in Hydeaway Bay is peace and quiet but they could also be lucky enough to spot a dugong, dolphin, whale or turtle on their travels.
