Mount Maunganui is often referred to as New Zealand’s Riviera, a 365-day-a-year resort town a couple of hours south east of Auckland.
It has a vibrant welcoming atmosphere, one of the best beaches in the world, and a stunning extinct volcano as a backdrop.
The Mount, as it is known, is within an easy three-hour drive from North Island cities where a third of New Zealand’s population resides and it lures huge numbers of tourists with its iconic golden sands, lovely cafes and restaurants, and the 230m-high lava dome which towers above the town and the mostly flat surrounding countryside.
The walking tracks to the top of the mountain provide 360 degree views which span the entire length of the Bay of Plenty.
From the base of Mount Maunganui, a pristine white sand surf beach stretches as far as the eye can see.
Ross Candy from Link Business Brokers is marketing The Beaumont, one of the most iconic tourism accommodation complexes in the Mount.
He says this lucrative Management Rights business comes with a high-value 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment, complete with three valuable car parks.
“Mount Maunganui is an amazing spot, and incredibly popular just as Surfers Paradise is in summer,” Mr Candy said.
“It’s a really welcoming, vibrant town and the beautiful mountain is wonderful for walks.
“The Beaumont is a special complex with 49 apartments and 28 in the letting pool.
“These apartments are highly sought-after, and few come to the market. This is without question, a high quality, very lucrative Mount Maunganui tourism accommodation business.”
The management rights are on offer for NZD $2,749,000.
“The Beaumont offers a huge net profit, and it’s still growing,” Mr Candy said.
“There is a 27% return on the business with a large letting pool generating an impressive income.”
Mount Maunganui has a population of about 8000, and was an independent town from Tauranga until the completion of the Tauranga Harbour Bridge in 1988, which connects Mount Maunganui to Tauranga's central business district.
Because of the area’s geological formation on a sandy peninsula, Mount Maunganui has both a harbour beach (Pilot Bay), and a nearby ocean beach (Main Beach) with great surf.
Main Beach was, in fact, crowned the “Best Beach in New Zealand” by TripAdvisor, and has been ranked among the top 25 best beaches in the world. Reputable surf schools in the region will have even novices riding waves in no time.
The Salisbury wharf at Pilot Bay is a great fishing spot but it is also easy to hire a boat for big game fishing excursions, dolphin tours, and dive trips.
Mount Maunganui also offers a Gourmet Night Market with an incredible selection of food and fresh produce straight from local farms.
