Maroochydore Town

Home to the Sunshine Coast’s central business district, Maroochydore is a surprisingly slow paced, coastal town with an established shopping scene, a number of holiday attractions, and a burgeoning food and beverage offering.

 

Just under 100 kilometres north of Brisbane, the area attracts domestic and international visitors looking for a day trip or coastal getaway, with easy access from the Sunshine Coast Airport for domestic guests, and an international runway and terminal expected to be completed within the next four years. Year-long sub-tropical, moderate temperatures make Maroochydore a popular destination for travellers throughout the year.

 

With a network of rivers, a surf beach, and calm lagoons, Maroochydore is truly a waterfront town. Shopping enthusiasts are attracted to its expansive riverside Sunshine Plaza, the Sunshine Coast’s largest shopping centre, while food and beverage lovers flock to the recently renovated Big Top shopping centre and marketplace which houses a variety of local produce, baked goods, and several street-food style vendors. 

 

The area also draws families with its calm patrolled beaches, large council parks, and child-friendly accommodation options.

 

Maroochydore’s beach and lagoon are lined with several apartment complexes, many of which provide both residential accommodation and serviced apartments for those visiting the area. The area also offers budget and luxury hotels, holiday parks and resort accommodation. The Sunshine Coast region has seen significant visitor growth in recent years, with total holiday visitor numbers reaching 1.93 million, including 11.76 million visitor nights. Maroochydore is currently undergoing tourism infrastructure development to match visitor growth, with five-star resorts in particular demand.
