The Queensland town of Palm Beach is located on a stretch of the Gold Coast between two creeks – Tallebudgera Creek to the north, and Currumbin Creek to its south. With a relaxed coastal charm, close proximity to major Queensland attractions and cities, and plenty of local culture to experience, Palm Beach draws a range of domestic and international visitors each year.
Having been named Queensland’s cleanest beach on a number of occasions, Palm Beach is known for its clear water, excellent surfing conditions, and local beach and creek fishing opportunities. With ‘Coast Club’ school holiday activities running each year, the area is a popular choice for families, particularly with the creeks either side of the beach providing a protected area for young children to safely swim.
While many come to the area to relax and unwind, Surfers Paradise is just a 20-minute drive for those looking to spend the day in the city, and Queensland’s much-loved theme parks are only 30 minutes away. While there are an abundance of food and beverage outlets in nearby cities, Palm Beach has an established restaurant scene of its own, offering a number of seafood options, as well as international cuisines such as Italian, Thai, Mexican, Indian, and Japanese. The area is also home to several popular cafés and weekend markets, many of which boast stunning ocean views.
With the local Gold Coast airport providing easy access for both international and domestic visitors, Palm Beach attracts thousands of the 13 million tourists that visit the Gold Coast each year, including 1.1 million international travellers and 3.7 million overnight domestic guests.
With temperatures averaging in the mid-20s throughout the year, tourists visit during all seasons, particularly with domestic visitors from cooler states travelling north in the winter months. Peak periods along the Gold Coast generally fall in line with school holiday dates, with the busiest period existing over the summer holidays.
Palm Beach has a total of 54 accommodation options and food services, with accommodation options including holiday parks and beach cabins, luxury hotels and resorts, as well as serviced apartments and backpacker hostels.
