Almost 14 hectares of magnificent Australian countryside with spectacular views in a booming market. And it comes with a hotel and caravan park as well.
Chris Cameron, from the Off Market Group, is selling a jewel of the Gold Coast hinterland that combines a caravan park and six-room hotel/motel at Advancetown in a sublime parcel of land close to three major national parks and just 3km to Hinze Dam.
The property, on the Nerang–Murwillumbah Road, has natural rainforests, walking trails, and beautiful waterfalls on its doorstep, yet is only 20 minutes from Surfers Paradise. It has sweeping vistas of the Gold Coast’s stunning coastline.
“It’s a big parcel of land and we have the caravan and pub in one line,” Mr Cameron said.
“The Gold Coast hinterland is a red hot market at the moment and we just sold the Mt Tamborine Motel as well. It’s a great land bank for the future too.
“The caravan park is always full and there is plenty of potential all round.
“Everything is heading to the hinterland because the Gold Coast is running out of land.
“The price is $10m for the caravan park, the hotel and the land in one line.”
There are 44 van sites and the hotel has approval for 10 poker machines as well as a public bar and bistro, a large entertainment zone, a pool and a popular off-premise bottle shop.
Advancetown, with a population of 500, is perched high above the Gold Coast, and the mountains around it enabled the construction of the Hinze Dam on the Nerang River. The resulting Advancetown Lake is the main water supply for the Gold Coast.
The area, lush with tall timbers, became a centre of logging in the 1870s and a settlement grew around its sawmill and as a stopover for the bullock teams hauling timber to the railway at Nerang. Many bullock teams were still tramping through the hills around Advancetown until the 1930s.
The first stage of the Hinze Dam was completed in 1976 and named after Carl and Johanna Hinze (grandparents of Queensland politician Russ Hinze) who were among the first European farmers in the area.
The dam offers a number of attractions, including a visitor centre with educational displays, a café. and parkland with picnic facilities. Below the spillway are picnic areas with barbeques.
Across the spillway is a network of mountain bike trails. The lake has boat ramps for non-motorised boating and catch-and-release fishing.
While only a short drive from Southport and Surfers Paradise, Advancetown is at the centre of a whole different world and lifestyle with a landscape that feels a world away. Rather than blue ocean waves, it is a sea of green.
It is in the centre of a rural paradise and at the heart of an area where the producers of an array of delicious foods and wines abound.
